FAQ

1. How much does it cost?
We base our price on square footage. We feel this is the best way to price our service. We only charge for the carpet we actually clean, not the “whole room” unless we are cleaning the whole room. Our minimum charge is $99.99 but that will cover 300 sq. feet, typically three average size bedrooms. Plus if you have a whole house to clean the square foot price will drop, or if you need upholstery cleaned we will apply an automatic discount as long as we are already on location and cleaning.

 

2. What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Visa and MasterCard.

 

3. Do you provide estimates?

When you call or email us, we will ask what rooms you are looking to get cleaned. We will also ask if there are any pet stains or other spots or stains you are concerned with. From there, we will give you an estimate of the cleaning price. When the technician comes out to do the cleaning, he will measure everything out and give you the exact price before he starts any work.

We do come out in person to do estimates for commercial work.


 

4. What if I need a handyman, plumber, or other service, can you help me?
Yes, we work with several local business owners who we know and trust. We love being a resource to our clients so if you are needing anything from an attorney, a realtor, an HVAC company, a mechanic, etc., please let us know and we’re happy to give you their name and business card.

 

5. How do you book your appointments?
We book our jobs at 9am, 12pm, and 3pm. I hate for clients to have to wait around all day for someone to show up. We will call you the day before to remind you of your appointment and then call when the technician is on his way. If he’s running a little or a little behind, we’ll call you for that as well. A lot of our clients are at work and run home to let the technician in so this way they know right when they would need to leave. We want to make your experience with us as effortless as possible.

 

6. What should I do to get ready for my appointment?

I always recommend just picking things up off the floor. If you want tables moved in a living room, I suggest taking the breakables off there before the technician arrives. When it comes to furniture, everyone is different in what they want moved. I always tell the client on the phone to tell the technician as you’re walking through the rooms with him to point out what you’d like moved. There normally is just one technician per van so he’ll move sofas, chairs, and tables.

If the house is empty, we will need to make sure the power is turned on. We don’t need water, our van has a 30 gallon tank with purified water that we use.


 

7. How safe are your cleaning methods?
We use only the highest quality, safest cleaning solutions on the market. Chem-Dry’s flagship cleaning solution, The NaturalĀ®, is on the FDA’s G.R.A.S. list. Our cleaning solution is also odorless. If you use a pre-spray, there is a citrus smell but it quickly dissipates. We have clients with allergies, asthma and autistic children who rave about our cleaning process.

 

8. What are those ugly black lines around my baseboards and under doorways?
Those are called filtration lines. It can be caused from air getting between the carpet and the baseboard. Changing air filters as instructed can help but it is usually caused during construction of the house. Regular vacuuming and cleaning the baseboards can help as well. This type of soiling is difficult to remove but with our special products, time and effort, reasonable results can usually be achieved.

 

9. I am nervous about having someone coming into my home, how can you help with that?
Having a stranger in your home can be very nerve wracking, especially if you watch the news. Are there several companies out there who don’t live up to what they promise. I don’t ever want a client of ours to feel like that. All of our technicians are uniformed and arrive in a marked TNT Chem-Dry van. We are licensed, bonded and insured. We are also a BBB accredited company.

 

10. How long do the carpets take to dry?
1-2 hours!!!! The time can vary slightly depending on the humidity in the air, the air temperature, and air flow in the rooms. No more staying off the carpets all day waiting for them to dry.

 

11. How long do I have to stay off my carpet?
Actually you can walk on it right away. Since we do not saturate your carpet and pad with water you are able to walk on your carpet without causing wicking or creating dark spots in your carpet that you might get with other cleaning methods. Your carpet will just be a little damp to the touch and dry in 2 hours.

 

12. How often should I clean the carpets?
That depends on your lifestyle. Carpet manufacturers recommend at least once per year. We clean our own carpets twice a year since we have a teenager and a pet. I send out reminder postcards after 6 months and after 12 months. This really seems to help our clients.

 

13. How long does it typically take to clean?

The time it takes depends upon how much you have for us to clean, the difficulty of the equipment set-up and the condition of your carpet or upholstery. On average 2 hours is the typical cleaning duration.
